What is the Crestline Alpine Mall ?
Thursday, July 31, 2008 17:16 7 CommentsWe don’t really have a mall, per se, in the 1980s sense of “enclosed mega shopping space.” But Crestline DOES have a modest outdoor retail area called the Alpine Mall. It’s a cluster of cute retail cabins. There’s also decent parking (which in Crestline means flat parking where you don’t have to back out into […]
American Idol Camp Concerts at Lake Arrowhead Village
Sunday, July 27, 2008 22:44 No CommentsThe show “American Idol” is constantly one of the most watched reality competitions on TV, so there’s a good bet there’s a fan somewhere in your house.
If that’s the case, you’ll love the concert series that Lake Arrowhead Village has put together with the official American Idol Camp, which is holding a summer session at […]
Review of the Blue Jay Movie Theater
Monday, July 21, 2008 22:08 2 CommentsCrestline residents have several movie-going choices:
to go down the hill into the urban jungle for more movie theaters than you can shake your wallet at,
to head into Big Bear for the two smallish Village theaters (and a 45 minutes drive from Crestline at best),
…or to head over to Blue Jay for the one […]
Money Magazine Profiles Crestline
Saturday, July 19, 2008 1:39 No CommentsEvery year, Money Magazine, one of the nation’s top financial magazines, does an annual survey of their recommendations for the Best Places to Live in the U.S. Among their judging criteria for each city are economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do and a sense of community.
So what does this have to do […]
Big Bear Book & Bean [a sort of bookstore]
Friday, July 18, 2008 17:40 3 CommentsI found three bookstores while wandering the downtown area of Big Bear Village. One looked to be a Christian type place, one was all about fairies and fantasy, and the third was largely a pet store.
The Big Bear Book & Bean is a cute shop stretching the definition of “bookstore.” Actually, the “bean” part of […]
Review of the Crestline Library and San Bernardino County Loan System
Friday, July 18, 2008 15:26 2 CommentsThe Crestline Library is a very small building. Honestly, there aren’t that many books - the adult nonfiction area consists of around 5 stacks, while the adult fiction shelves run along the back wall. There is a small magazine area behind the checkout counter, and a large children’s room, that, not having kids, I […]
Serrano Campground in Big Bear
Friday, July 18, 2008 14:08 11 CommentsMy husband and I (and our dog Kaylee) recently stayed for three days at Serrano Campground on the north shore of Big Bear Lake. We enjoyed how serene the area was - the north shore, Fawnskin, is much prettier than Big Bear City and even than Big Bear Village. There is something […]
Library Yoga Update
Friday, July 18, 2008 13:01 2 CommentsYesterday I took my Crestline library yoga class. The main instructor Michelle was on vacation so we had Jenny, our backup instructor, teach. She had very nice transitions and there were more standing poses like warrior and triangle. I enjoyed Jenny’s different yoga teaching style.
This time there were seven students, of various yoga levels […]
SB Sun Reviews Crestline Jamboree
Friday, July 18, 2008 0:22 No CommentsA few weeks ago we mentioned the annual Crestline Jamboree Parade and Festival was to be held in town. Surfing around the web this week, I was pleased to see a full review of it by the San Bernardino County Sun newspaper, complete with photos.
If you’re wondering what life is like when a small town […]
Crestline Living Business Cards, Clings, Banners…and Reviews of your Local Business
Thursday, July 17, 2008 17:08 1 CommentBusiness cards from Crestline Living are starting to float around town. Here’s what they look like:
My next plan is to order small window clings with our CL logo on them for mountain community businesses to hang in their windows that read, “As Featured in Crestline Living.” Anyone know of a good custom cling company - […]
