This Tuesday, November 11th, 2008, national forests in Southern California will offer a “Fee Free Day” in honor of America’s Veterans and Armed Forces personnel.

The Veterans Day Free Day is observed every year and San Bernardino National Forest is one of the areas participating.

This means for this one day, a daily use Adventure Pass will not be needed to enjoy the numerous heavy traffic areas of the forest surrounding Crestline, such as picnic areas, trailheads and lookout towers.

A map of areas around Crestline that will waive fees can be found at the official website for the San Bernardino National Forest, as can a complete list of the recreation fee areas within the forest.

While the day pass itself is usually only $5, this is still a great reason to get out and enjoy these areas of the San Bernardino National Forest for free.

I just stumbled upon this website and it looks like I missed the boat in terms of this particular event, which is too bad! Just wanted to thank you for all the information though and I hope there will be new postings for 2010. Thanks!

I’m located just down the hill from you. I’m looking to come up your way in a couple of weeks when it is sure to be 100 degrees or so in my area and do a little hiking.

At $5, it sounds worth it to go even if it isn’t free day. I’d love to visit San Bernardino National Forest.
