Seasonal Fog and Mist Returns to Crestline
Saturday, October 4, 2008 10:48I was right about the weather yesterday: it IS fall. Last night
we enjoyed watching the fog roll in. We hadn’t seen that since early spring. I was wondering when the mists were due back. I know Dan had missed them.
Then this morning we awoke to our bowl-like valley filled with fog. It was lovely in its way. I enjoy Crestline for its massive quantity and quality of clean sunshine, but occasional misty, rainy weather crawling over the mountains is always a pleasure.
Note the misty photo at top.
This is in the middle of the day. Normally this would be a photo of the Lake Gregory area hillside dotted with houses and pines. You would see Strawberry Peak, with its antennae. But this is what we see when the fog rolls in - curling grayish mists.
The second photo shows Lake Gregory from my deck. Or rather, it shows where Lake Gregory normally is, if one peels back the mists. Rather cool.
This last picture shows our normal view, for comparison.
Take care driving in Crestline on days like this!
Related Article, on Crestline Living - Crestline in the Mists: The article shows the last misty day of spring 08 (back in April). Notice the photo I posted there: it shows the same scene off my deck, but with a tad less thick of a white-out. You can actually peer through the mists to see some houses. I think it’s neat to see the same view in different weather conditions.
