Crestline Library Participating in Banned Books Week
Saturday, September 27, 2008 20:04Every year, hundreds of books are challenged as having a place in your public library, so an annual “Banned Books Week” was created to both call attention to the problem and to celebrate your right to read what you want to read.
Once again, the Crestline Public Library is participating in this yearly tradition, which starts today, September 27th, and runs through October 4th. The library has created a special display of selected titles and the staff will be happy to discuss and recommend titles from the list of books that have been in danger of being banned.
From the library’s MySpace page:
“Each year, librarians, booksellers, teachers and countless others take this opportunity to highlight the importance of intellectual freedom and remind us not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted.”
So get in there this week and check out some of these books.
The Crestline Branch is part of the San Bernardino County Library system. It is located at 23555 Knappās Cutoff in Crestline.
