Mail Delivery in Crestline

If you live in Crestline, you don’t get mail delivered to your home. No one does. You get your mail at the Crestline Post Office, just like in the old days.

Crestline resident get free PO boxes. You have to prove your residency with a utility bill, rental agreement or like proof. The mail gets delivered around noon and it’s best to check your box after 1pm.

I make sure to head in as late as possible in the day to be sure all the mail is set out. That’s a good idea for another reason - the midday traffic around the post office is pretty absurd for a small town. Traffic just gets snarly around that time with people trying to pull in/pull out to park and check their mail.

Our PO Box is magazine sized, which means packages don’t fit. On lucky days, we get a key in our box to let us know a package awaits in a “Package PO box.” On most days we just have to take our package ticket to the counter, waiting in line with half the town to get our care packages and books from Amazon.

We got used to the routine pretty quickly and go in about twice a week to check our mail. If we are expecting something, we’ll check more often.

When we go to town, we also swing by Ace Hardware, Goodwin’s Groceries and drop off donations to the thrift store in Top Town. So it’s easiest to make a bunch of errands on trip days. The other days we stay at home, working from home, enjoying our house and the views out the window.

Receiving home delivery UPS and Fed Ex is another blog entirely.
