Crestline Area Yoga Classes
Thursday, June 26, 2008 22:08I’ve only been doing yoga since March but am already addicted. It just feels good. I have a bunch of yoga DVDs and some books, but want to at least find out what actual classes are in the area.
Here is what my research turned up for mountain town yoga classes:
In Crestline -
Inland Dance Academy on the Mountain - classes on Tuesdays from 10am until 11:30am with Helen and on Fridays from 11:30-12:30 with Tara. There are also several Sculpt, Strength & Stretch classes, as well as a Friday evening Latin Impact & Pilates Mat. That sounds like a strange combination but could be fun. I have never tried Pilates but imagine it’s close enough to yoga to fill that jones if needed. First classes are free. 909-338-4898
Crestline Library - 11AM gentle yoga classes on Thursdays. Bring a donation of books or cash to the library fund. 909-338-1979
In Arrowhead -
The Weight Room & Cardio Fitness - I went in an got a schedule, which offers Power Yoga, Yogacise and something called NAI. Power Yoga is 60 minutes of vinyasa yoga that I imagine, from the title, moves along at a pretty fast clip. There are probably jump-backs. This is offered as an intermediate to advanced level class. Yogacise is 60 minutes of vinyasa that also includes some resistance training with weights and balls, as well as a cardio element - strong beginner to advanced recommended. NIA is 60 minutes and the blurb says it combines yoga, dance and martial arts. So it might be safe to say this is also an intense workout, although the class info states that beginners are welcome.
As for a relaxing or gentle yoga class at this gym, I don’t see anything listed that is yoga-based per se, but would guess the SOS Class (Stretch Out Stress) might be the ticket here, offering range of motion and flexibility stretches (sounds a lot like yoga). One time classes cost $5 and a day pass is $10. This gym has a sauna! Lower level Arrowhead Village, (909) 337-6574.
Spa of the Pines - I have not been to the resort in Lake Arrowhead but they have a fitness center and offer yoga as well. In fact, according to their website’s yoga page, they have LOTS of yoga classes and even offer frequent yoga retreats. See their several yoga-info PDFs. (909) 744-3000
In Twin Peaks -
There is a gym in Twin Peaks, which is the ridgeline town directly between Crestline and Arrowhead. I need to take a look and see what they offer. The place is called, simply, The Club, on Rose Lane. 909-337-7071.
In Fawnskin -
All I could find was an instructor in the Mountain Arts Healing Directory.
