Our First Winter in Crestline
Thursday, June 26, 2008 19:16My hubbie published a tragically funny post on his blog about our move here to Crestline. It was in the dead of winter and just happened to be during the WORST STORM of the year on this mountain.
It’s best to simply let him tell the tale. His blog post includes pictures of the crazy path he chopped out of the ice to bring our furniture down the hill, on his back, to our new home. And the stuck Uhaul. And me in the doorway of our new home, in red fuzzy pajamas (fortunately you really can’t see me too well).
Okay, to the right I’ve included the 45-degree angled ice path picture, with the stuck Pathfinder (see arrow).
His post, on Off Topic (one of his polyGeek blogs) is called The Move. It’s a fun read that starts with our drive down the coast from Seattle, a comedy of errors mixed with some really neat places we stayed along the Oregon coast.
It’s kind of fun to remember this right now, since it’s in the 90s up here and blazingly sunny. It’s also funny to realize that it’s only a 15 minute drive from these glacial drifts to sea level and palm trees. ![]()
