Yoga for all Levels at Crestline Library
Thursday, June 26, 2008 15:13I took my second yoga class at the library today.
There were six people there including the instructor and myself. One young woman was very pregnant and did some easy yoga from a chair and mostly watched the rest of us. After the class I mentioned to her that there are specific kinds of yoga for pregnancy and she said she was looking for a book about it in the library.
Have I mentioned this is the smallest library I have ever seen servicing a town? So I mentioned to the woman that she might want to ask the librarian about how to log into the library exchange system and that I know I have seen books and DVDs about pregnancy yoga in the system. She did not know this was available so I feel good about helping her. I imagine yoga is also nice for the fetus but honestly have no way of knowing that one.
The class was a bit slower this week than the session I took prior, although this time we did do some planks, cobras and a sort-of chatarunga. We skipped the warrior poses that we had done previously.
There were a few people there who needed some more modified poses, which is always interesting to know about. Two other ladies used some bolsters and pillows for pose support in many postures. What’s nice about this class is that ANY level yogi can enjoy it - from absolute novice to intermediate who wants a relaxing session. I can’t say enough good things about this class. The teacher is very encouraging and has a gentle demeanor.
The cost for these library yoga classes is pretty much a donation to the library in cash or books. Classes are held every Thursday at 11AM in the Crestline library (at the corner of Lake Drive and Knapp’s Cutoff). You need to bring your own yoga mat. The instructor’s number is 909-338-1979.
